Visitor Types Administration Page

TraceWatch categorizes visitors into four types; robots, administrators, spammers and normal visitors. Each session will be marked with one of these visitor types. You can control the way TraceWatch determines the visitor type through the Administrate > Visitor Types page.

Each visitor type has a condition (the expression in front of when) that when met the session will be marked with that visitor type.

In addition to this condition, each visitor type has a set of Identifiers which are entity values (Referrers, user agents, ips, ...) that also identify that visitor type. It is actually a shorthand for adding something to the condition. Also these identifiers use a unified table and don't need parsing so they are much faster and more efficient than the when condition.

TraceWatch uses the combination of these two methods to identify a visitor type: Start with the first visitor type, if the condition is met or one of the identifiers match this is the visitor type otherwise go to next visitor type. If none of the visitor types matches the session will be marked as normal visitor.

[NOTE] The default condition for robots ( User Agent >= 1000 and User Agent < 10000 ) specifies the range of predefined TraceWatch robots. If you want to add something to the condition either use the Identifiers or add something to the when condition with an "or" statement.
